Last week, I submitted my applicaiton for job promotion,
however, that was rejected... The reason is "too early"...
I recognize my finance experience is still short, 3.5 years,
but I've experienced various jobs so far, and lead the
people, project, and can show the results...
However, my current manager told me the opinions and feedbacks
for what I am today is insufficient for exposure to management
, meaning that I'm still inmature to get promoted in the near
future. I could agree with him, my manager, but I hoped
that hr direction, if the applicants can show their performance
on writings, then promotion will be considered purely based
on described experience and achievements, despite being referred
to the voices, evaluation by the people concerned for the
related subjects. But as managers are human nature, such
direction can't be consistent with their intent and will,
their decision will be mainly based on daily performance
that managers desires for their staffs. I can understand
such approach, if it's regareded as rational, hr direction
is almost meaningless... No matter how much hr people
consider what kind of hr direction is preferable,
the people in business will not change easily...
Apart from hr direction and responses by the people
in business, what I'll do will not change, except for
wanting to join in jobs that require higher skills and
more knowledge and fundamental understanding and macro
view that can be shared with management execs.
Nothing can change the cummulative, fundamental experiences
and achievements. I don't depend on political, strategic
approach, but I'll pursue the genuine finance expenrience
and achievements that can be reverage for the future
promotion and positions.
Though this time challenge was failed, I've got a chance
to go abroad to transfer my skill to the people in
offshore, Malaysia. It'll be next year, for quarterly
closing operation, I'll take responsibility to transfer
my skill that absorbed Japan's best practices, since I
've been working on deploying them into our business.
And also, I was asked by my boss to join in higher discussion
which will be shared with execs in line of business.
Today's discussion was not only based on the results
of my financial analysis for revenue and signings,
but also expanded to marketing strategies, what
ideas can we have, to which direction we should lead...
It was very, very interesting... After joining
current department, today was the best day...
I felt very happy as a internal business advisor...
I like such discussion very much, integrating marketing
strategy and financial analysis, because I believe
finance & planning team should have such function
as a pilot. If we have such function from now on too,
our value will be very high... If I'm a management,
I want to have such ideal team to lead the company to
become more profitable entity.
In the meantime, I've got an offer by mail via myspace
today, if I'm willing to challenge the opportunity to
get familiarity in public as a musician. I've already
sent my profile and mp3 to the person who contacted me.
I don't know how the result will be, I just want to take
each opportunities one by one, since I don't want to lose
them by myself. I want to choose my own life by myself,
not suppressing my potential for my own.
"Challenge, challenge, and challenge."
This can make our lives exciting and fun.
